Link Rotator / Traffic Splitter — A/B Test URL Redirect

Split traffic between multiple URLs by weight (60/40, 33/33/33, or any ratio). Generates a self-contained HTML redirect page to host free on GitHub Pages, Netlify, or Cloudflare Pages — no server needed.

How it works

The generated HTML file contains a tiny JavaScript snippet that calls Math.random() on every page load and compares the result against the cumulative weight thresholds for each destination URL. The visitor is immediately redirected using window.location.replace(), which replaces the rotator page in the browser history so the back button goes to the original referrer rather than bouncing back to the redirect. There is no database, no analytics (unless you add your own), and no server — the entire logic is in a ~600-byte HTML file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I track which link each visitor went to?

Add UTM parameters to each destination URL (e.g. ?utm_source=rotator&utm_campaign=offer-a) so Google Analytics or your analytics tool can distinguish the traffic. The rotator itself does not track anything — that is by design for simplicity and privacy.

Is the traffic split exactly 60/40?

No — it converges to 60/40 over a large enough sample. Math.random() is statistically uniform but each individual visit is independent. With 10 visitors you might see 7/3 or 5/5. With 1,000 visitors the split will be very close to 60/40. The simulation above shows what to expect at 100 visitors.

Can I add more than 2 links?

Yes — click "Add link" to add as many destinations as you want. The weights are relative, so if you add three links with weights 50, 30, and 20 the traffic splits to 50%, 30%, and 20% respectively. Use "Equal split" to reset all weights to an even distribution.

What if a destination URL is down?

The rotator does not check if URLs are reachable before redirecting. If a destination URL is down, the visitor will land on that site's error page. Monitor your destination URLs independently using an uptime tool.
